We are all scientists in RT, we learnt about solids, liquids and gases today and found out how the particles in solids, liquids and gases move. We mixed solids (flour and salt) with liquids (eggs and milk) and mixed them to create a suspension of particles within a liquid. We then heated the mixture (fried them) and watched as they turned into a solid (pancake)! Some of us wrote recipes, we all made them and we all recorded what we did. Mrs Allen was very impressed with the way we negotiated what toppings we wanted as a group and managed to share our pancakes out equally all by ourselves. One group of 5 cut the pancake into 10 pieces so each person could have 2 pieces each! Without any adult support at all!
Do you remember if chocolate is a liquid or a solid? How do the particles move about? What about ice? What would happen if you melted it or heated it?
